
Gauchos Cruise To 17-5 Win Over Oregon StateFeb. 12, 2015
Two freshman split the game in goal for UCSB. Freshman Kaitlyn Pike (Seaholm, MI) played the first half and had 4 saves and 3 goals allowed for 57.1%. Freshman Cyrena Malkoswki (Trabuco Hills, CA) had 4 saves and 2 goals allowed for 66.7%. Redshirt sophomore Nicole Rockwell (San Jose, CA) led the Gauchos in the midfield with 4 draw controls, 4 caused turnovers and 5 ground balls along with 1 goal and only 1 turnover. The plus thirteen for production to turnovers is a season high from a UCSB player this year. The nightcap game played after the UCSB win featured Brigham Young and Michigan. The Wolverines won that game 13-6 after leading 6-2 at halftime. Shootout play picks up again in 10:00am games on Friday morning at the Recreation Center Sports Complex turf, on the UCSB Lacrosse Field (aka The Pit) and at SBCC La Playa Stadium. The Gauchos improve to 3-1 and face 5th ranked University of Georgia at 4:00pm on Friday. Oregon State drops to 0-2 and resumes play a lot sooner when they face Northeastern University at 10:00am on Friday.
