About UCSB Women's Lacrosse
UCSB Women's Lacrosse is a Sport Club competing under the Department of Recreation at University of California, Santa Barbara. UC Santa Barbara boasts two nationally ranked lacrosse teams. Both the men's and women's teams regularly finish in the Top 5 in the nation in their respective national association polls. The women compete regionally in the Western Women's Lacrosse League (WWLL) and nationally in the Women's Division Intercollegiate Associates (WDIA) of U.S. Lacrosse, the National Governing Body for the sport. This association governs regular season and national championship tournament play and enforces the use of student-athlete eligibility rules similar to those of the NCAA. UCSB is one of the lead programs in the WDIA and is also one of a select few programs nationwide to carry A & B teams based on interest and demand to participate in this sport at UCSB.

Lindsay Feig Added to UCSB Coaching Staff - Aug 18, 2010

Lindsay FeigSanta Barbara, CA - Former University of Redlands assistant coach Lindsay Feig has accepted an assistant coaching position at UCSB. Feig was first assistant at Redlands, an NCAA Division III program, the last two years following a successful playing career as a goal keeper. Feig will coach the goal keepers at UCSB and will also be the head coach for SBCC. UCSB assistant coach Jillian Boyd had been pulling triple duty coaching the UCSB B Team, SBCC and Laguna Blanca High School.

"Feig and I met coaching at a clinic in Orange County this past spring and I invited her to coach at our summer camp," said UCSB head coach Paul Ramsey commenting on the SBCC addition.

"She did a great job both times and the wheels started turning as we'd been looking for a way to free up some time for Jillian."

Many UCSB students come from SBCC as transfers. The two schools have a guaranteed transfer agreement for students who complete 60 units with a 3.2 GPA. Having a coaching staff involved in both programs ultimately leads to a better situtation for all the students involved.

Following her successful Bulldog career on the field, Lindsay Feig returned to Redlands in 2008 as the assistant women’s lacrosse coach after serving as a team leader on the women’s lacrosse team as a two-year captain. A New England native, Feig had a standout career as a goalkeeper for the women’s lacrosse team at Redlands. She received First-Team All-Region honors in 2008, ranked 15th in Division III in save percentage (.537) in 2008 and holds the program records for career saves (424), saves in a season (161 in 2008) and saves in a game (21).

In addition to her Bulldog coaching duties, Feig coached the goalkeepers for Team OC, an elite lacrosse club in Orange County the last two years. She is an avid fan of the Red Sox, the Celtics, the Patriots and the New England Revolution. Feig received her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Redlands in 2008. She recently received a Master degree in Higher Education at Redlands.

"This is a great group to add to our program," says UCSB head coach Paul Ramsey. "We picked up some speed in the midfield and added a few proven scorers."

"We would have liked to get a goalie and a few defenders but players at both those positions are in the group enrolling at SBCC this fall to transfer to UCSB down the road."

The Gauchos usually have a number of players walk-on during Fall Ball and Ramsey expects that will happen again this year.

"We continue to aim for having six beginners join us every year to play on our B Team and experience this great game," added Ramsey.

"It's part of our development efforts."
