UCSB Improves to 2-0 With Win Over ArizonaFeb. 2, 2013
UCSB kept up the output in the second half outscoring the Wildcats 3 to 2 before scoring 6 unanswered goals over a fourteen minute span to provide the final 13 goal difference a few minutes before the game ended. Both goalies played well with freshman Morgan Ryan (Salt Lake City, UT) saving 60% in the first half and senior Megan Hughes (Santa Ana, CA) saving 71.4% in the second half. Ryan and Hughes benefited from solid play by their defense, who gelled quickly after allowing the two quick goals early by the Wildcats. The Gauchos improved to 2-0 and Arizona dropped to 0-1. Up next for UCSB is a trip to UC Berkeley for their first away game of the season on February 9th. The Wildcats continue their road trip with a game at USC on Saturday.
