UCSB Exhibition With Chapman At Polo Club

UCSB WLAX File PhotoSanta Barbara, CA - The Gauchos exhibition game with NCAA DIII Chapman University is now even more of an exhibition. The contest will be played as the exhibition game at the Oceana LAX Festival at the Santa Barbara Polo Club. Twenty-four elite high school clubs will have their lunch break in the stands while watching UCSB take on the Panthers at Noon on Saturday, January 25th.

It's a great opportunity for UCSB to prepare for the season in a feature match-up while also putting their best foot forward in front of about 400 prospects for recruiting. The Gauchos return seven starters from last season. Two returning starters are out with injuries until at least February 1st but an overall strong group of returners and a talented freshmen class looks capable of carrying UCSB through such hiccups.

"There's going to be an energy provided by playing in front of a crowd like this," says UCSB Head Coach Paul Ramsey.

"It will be a nice experience for our players."

The Oceana LAX Festival is a first year event being run by the Bitter Lacrosse Family. E.W. Bitter is the director. The Bitter Family is famous worldwide, starting with father Ward Bitter who was a standout player at Boston College and is in the Eagles Hall of Fame.
