Carpinteria, CA - Cal State Northridge held SBCC off longer than the Vaquero's two previous opponents but ultimately it was a 5-0 first quarter for SBCC and an 18-1 win at the Santa Barbara Polo Club in the Santa Barbara Shootout. It were a WWLL Central Division 2 matchup and the result put the Vaqueros in a first place tie with Biola for the region standings.
Sophomore Paris Lisi (Walnut Creek) led SBCC in scoring with 1 goal and 5 assists. Sophomore Sabrina Forbes (Santa Clarita, CA) scored five goals with one of those a helper from Lisi. Overal Lisi found five different targets with Maya Sordoillet (Mill Valley CA), Kia Kofoed (Orinda, CA), Marianna Gamet (Redondo CA) and Valeria Bond (Livermore, CA) also benefiting from her passing.
The Santa Barbara Shootout is an annual event that pulls in forty or more teams every year. It's a great path to convenient competition every year for the Vaqueros. SBCC improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in league. Northridge dropped to 0-3 overall. The Vaqueros play next at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, February 11th, in a 1:00pm game. The game replaces an originally scheduled game at Moorpark College. The Raiders asked to reschedule for later in the season.
