Coach Billy Staines hails from Severna Park, Maryland and has grown up around the sport of lacrosse his whole life. He attended Severn School which competes in the MIAA A Conference, arguably the toughest high school conference in the entire country. Billy starred as a defenseman for the Severn Admirals and was a finalist for the Kelly Award, given to the top high school player in the entire state of Maryland. Billy then continued his lacrosse career at the University of North Carolina where he started for the Tar Heels at long stick midfield. He graduated from Chapel Hill in 2006 and received the Unsung Hero Award his senior year, given to one player on the team each year who displays excellent work ethic. Coach Staines is entering his first season as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator for the Rebels for the upcoming 2011-12 season. His experience at such a high level will be instrumental in the development of the Rebels defense. Ole Miss is ecstatic to have Coach Staines' leadership and high lacrosse IQ on their staff.
