West Coast Force In JapanTokyo, Japan - The West Coast Force tour of Japan continues and after a hike on Mt. Fuji this past Monday the Force teams checked into Hotel Tokinosumika to enjoy the hot springs of Gotemba. Relaxing was the theme at this stop and everyone did a great job of it. Tuesday afternoon the Force resumed travel on their charter bus and the destination was Tokyo. That evening the teams checked into the National Memorial Youth Center, which was the Olympic Village during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Wednesday the teams rode the train out to Kamakura to see the gian Buddha. While beach season is not here yet in Japan, after that, some players tested the waters on this side of the Pacific Ocean.

West Coast Force In JapanThursday was game day and the Force women started slow against Rikkyo University and found themselves down 6-2 at halftime. Rikkyo was the Tokyo area collegiate champion and was runner-up in the national championship game to a team from the Osaka area. With a strong second half the Force tied it 8-8 in the final minute by outscoring Rikkyo 6-3. Then a Rikkyo draw control and fastbreak gave the Japanese team a 9-8 win as time expired. The second game for the Force women was against their hosts and some JLA staff. West Coast Force controlled this one from the start and led 6-0 at halftime. The final score was 8-2.

The West Coast Force men won both their games as well and results will be posted soon.
