Force 8th at Hawaii Lacrosse Tournament

Bookmark and Share Printer Friendly Nov. 3, 2009

Waikiki, HI - The Force played their opponents much tougher on day two of the Hawaii Lacrosse Tournament but dropped both games to finish in 8th place in the 14 team tournament. In the first game the Force U-19 team took on the ASU Devils, a mix of current ASU players and alumni. It was close at halftime with  ASU up 4-3 and eventually outscoring the Force 3-2 in the second half for a 7-5 final. That put the Force in the 7th place game with the Hawaii Lacrosse Club. That game  also started out close and Hawaii was up 5-4 at halftime. During the second half the older and more experienced Hawaii team pulled away a goal at a time. The final score was 11-5.

This was the first time these Force players had played together, with only a few having played on the Force U-17 team that played in the Santa Barbara Fall Brawl on October 18th. Each team they faced plays together in tournaments on a regular basis. It was a great effort by the Force players to come together while being thrown into the fray on the field without practicing together.

The next travel event for West Coast Force will be an Under-19 team traveling to Japan to play in the International Friendship games in Tokyo and Nagoya. Tentative trip dates are June 14th - June 28th.
