Vikings fall to Gaels in season finale

While suffering a disappointing defeat at the hands of the St. Mary's Gaels on Saturday afternoon, 12-8, neither that nor the rain could dampen an incredible season for the Vikings.  They ended their fifth season with 12 victories, against 4 defeats.  They achieved a 5-3 record of versus outstanding MCLA Division I teams (nationally ranked Simon Fraser, Stanford and Chico State, as well as two victories over UC Davis.  The three losses came at the hands of Cal, Sonoma State and Santa Clara.   The Vikings had a 6-1 record against division II opponents including two previous victories over the Gaels.  The final victory came against the new community college program out of Rocklin, Sierra College.

In addition, DVC fielded a "B" team for the first time in its history and this team had one win, two losses, and a tie.  In the "fifth quarter" in Saturday afternoon's game, the Viking "B" team played well scoring 3 goals to the Gael "B" team's 2.
