Vikings hang on to defeat UC Davis

The Aggies came ready to play and bolted to a 4-1 lead early in the first quarter.  The Vikings, fresh off their Sunday night victory versus Stanford, came out of the gates a bit flat.  Midway in the first quarter the Vikings however came alive, as Jake McIntyre scored two goals, Cory Callahan and Mike Wells each scored one, and Curtis Bowden scored on a miraculous behind the back shot that slipped by the UC Davis goalie. After the first quarter, the score was tied, 5-5.  Quickly into the second quarter, the Viking offense really started clicking.  Great passes by Chris Banks, Gavin Cooke and Devon Bahary led to two goals by Cal Boone and one to Callahan.  Midway through the second quarter the Vikings led 8-7.  To end the scoring in the first half, Jake McIntyre and Jakob Ternes each scored goals for a 10-7 Viking lead.

In the third quarter, the Viking offense continued to dominate.  Two scores by Devon Bahary, and one each by Callahan, Ternes and Cooke led to a commanding 15-10 lead going into the final quarter.  The Aggies though were not finished, as they rallied to score their defense shut down Viking scoring for the night, while their offense put two more goals on the scoreboard.  The Vikings "hung" on to defeat the UC Davis Aggies 15-12.

NEXT UP:  The DVC Fall Classic Tournament on Saturday, December 1 at Viking Field.  St. Mary's and Sierra College, along with DVC's "B" Team, and DVC's "A" team will be the participants for the final day of the Fall Season.
