UCSB Gets Work With CAL, Draws in Scrimmage with St. Mary'sOct. 24, 2009 Moraga, CA - The Gauchos recovered from a slow start in a scrimmage on the road at St. Mary's and came back to tie the score at 5 apiece by the end of the 40 minute running clock game. The Gauchos were down 2-3 at halftime mostly due to giving the ball away more than necessary transitioning out from the defensive end. UCSB settled down for the second half and had the ball more often to do something with it and be more effective on offense. Prior to the scrimmage UCSB and the NCAA team from UC Berkeley had a combo practice working on transition situations, holding the ball in a stall and winning the ball back against a stall. UCSB is participating in the Davis Play-Day on Sunday and splitting into two teams, blue and white. The two teams will play a combined seven 30 minute scrimmages. Blue opens up with an 8:30am scrimmage with the club from UC Berkeley and white will play the NCAA team from Fresno State. The complete schedule for the UCSB teams is available on the schedule page of this website.
