Santa Barbara, CA - The UCSB women's lacrosse club will test the NCAA waters this weekend when they play at the St. Mary's and UC Davis fall play-days on back to back days. Five of the eight different teams UCSB will play in a two day span are NCAA Divisions One scholarship programs. Saturday the Gauchos will be in a combination practice with the NCAA team from UC Berkeley and then scrimmage St. Mary's. On Sunday UCSB will split into two squads at the Davis Play-Day. The white team will face the NCAA Division One teams from Fresno State, St. Mary's and UC Davis. All of these teams compete in the MPSF where the UCSB men's volleyball, men's water polo, women's water polo and women's indoor track & field teams compete. Men's soccer used to play in the MPSF before the Big West Conference started sponsoring a championship for the sport. The UCSB blue team will scrimmage the clubs from UC Berkeley, Nevada-Reno and Chico State at the Davis Play-Day.

"We did this last year at the CAL Play-Day to start the season in February last year," comments UCSB head coach Paul Ramsey.  "We scrimmaged St. Mary's, Fresno and Stanford. It was a tremendous experience to play over our heads."

"We want to do it more often."

All of the UCSB games on the weekend may be found on the Schedule page of the UCSB women's lacrosse website.
