Santa Barbara Fall Brawl a SuccessOct. 18, 2009 Santa Barbara, CA - UCSB teams went a combined 4-2 at the second annual Santa Barbara Fall Brawl and overall the event was a good opportunity for competitive pre-season lacrosse for all 22 teams participating. UCSB is turning Santa Barbara into a great middle of the state place for teams to meet and now offers three major events a year for teams at the middle school, high school, collegiate and post-collegiate levels. The Gauchos host the Fall Brawl, the UCSB 3 v. 3 Tournament and the Santa Barbara Shootout. At the Fall Brawl, elite travel teams BearLax Lacrosse Club of the San Francisco Bay Area and S&D Lax of Sacramento & Davis were able to play Falcons Lacrosse Club of the San Diego area, Team OC from Orange County and Beach Head Lax of Redondo Beach for the first time by meeting in Santa Barbara at the Fall Brawl. West Coast Force, a first year club being run by UCSB head coach Paul Ramsey's East West Sports Camps company took the field and finished 3-1 in their inaugural competition together. Santa Barbara City College pulled a team together despite some players being abroad for the Fall and went 1-1. "We had very good geographic representation at all three levels playing in this tournament," commented Ramsey after the end of the day. "It was nice to see teams from a lot of different places here." "I am impressed again by the ability of our players to work as hard as they do in advance of these events, including early morning set-up shifts the day of play, and then still focus and play well on the field," added Ramsey. "It makes for a long day and it's not easy but they keep pulling it off every event we do."
