Dickey Gets 50th Point Against UC DavisApr. 24, 2008 Chico, CA - Perhaps it was lost among the seriousness of playing two games in one day with the second one likely to be rival UCLA in the semifinals of the WWLL Championship Tournament. Perhaps it was just that there's been so much emphasis on team, team, team this year for the UCSB offense. But senior Kristen Dickey (Davis, CA) did score her 50th point of the season on her first goal of the game at 19:06 into the 19-7 WWLL Quarterfinal win over UC Davis on April 19th. Later in the tournament Dickey ran her team leading total to 44 goals and 12 assists when she scored the winning goal in the second overtime of the 12-11 championship game win over Cal Poly SLO. Four other Gauchos are within striking distance of the half century mark for points. Senior Emily Ruby (48 points), freshman Ashley Antoon-Algieri (47 points), sophomore Maggie Aker (46 points) and junior Katie Moran (43 points) all have four games left to make their way there. The feat of having five players at 50 or more points would be incredible considering eleven Gauchos regularly figure into the attack and have contributed ten or more points this season. Additionally, all sixteen field players have scored at least a goal but it's the fact that the scoring column usually features 8, 9 or 10 players per game that makes having anyone close to 50 points amazing.
