UCSB Hosting Seventh Annual Fall Brawl On SaturdayNov. 19, 2014 Santa Barbara, CA - UCSB plays host to twelve teams this Saturday in the Seventh Annual Santa Barbara Fall Brawl and will field three teams in one event for the first time. Twenty games will be played at the UCSB Recreation Center sports complex turf from 9am to 5pm on three fields. The Gauchos have three teams in the event and SBCC has one team in for a total of four local teams. UCSB Blue, UCSB Gold and UCSB White will play games with nine unique opponents. Each UCSB team will play three games. It is the first time the Gauchos have fielded three teams at one event and it's a sign of the growth of the sport on campus. Seven novices out for the program along with forty-one experienced players are what makes it possible to field the three squads. "We chose to maximize playing time on Saturday rather than have two large teams and a lot of standing around," commented UCSB Head Coach Paul Ramsey. "It will be good for the overall development of our players." Another eight Gauchos are in a fall sport or abroad for the Fall and return to the program in January. The anticipated head count of fifty-six athletes puts the program among the largest of women's teams on campus. It has grown significantly every year for the last seven years.
