Gauchos Edge Cal Poly On Last Minute GoalNov. 15, 2014 San Luis Obispo, CA - UCSB made the short trip up Higway 101 for a non-traditional season scrimmage at rival Cal Poly SLO and edged the Mustangs 11-10. Freshman Omari Harmon (Salisbury, MD) scored the final point unassisted in the final minute. UCSB led 6-5 at halftime only to see Cal Poly take a two goal lead midway through the second half. The Mustangs came out of halftime pressuring out on the ball and marking tightly all over the field. The Gauchos were momentarily taken aback by the rush of Mustang effort but kept playing through the pressure. Eventually they rallied to tie the game 10-10 on an assist from Alena Riggs (Laguna Niguel, CA) to Melissa Hsu (Danville, CA). Some up and down the field play each direction eventually led to the ball in Harmon's stick at the Mustangs' defensive end and the game winning goal. UCSB wraps up Fall Ball when they host the Seventh Annual Santa Barbara Fall Brawl on Saturday, November 22nd. The Gauchos will put three teams into the mix on the UCSB Recreation Center Sports Complex turf. UCSB Blue, UCSB Gold and UCSB White will play with 15 to 16 player rosters each in the Super and Competitive divisions, respectively. Games start on three fields at 9:00am on Saturday and the last game starts at 4:00pm.
