Santa Clara Defeats #3 Cal Poly

The #6 ranked Santa Clara Broncos upset #3 Cal Poly 12-10 this past Saturday in the Broncos last home game of the season.  The Broncos started the game slow by giving up the first goal of the game after just 28 seconds in to the contest but the Broncos would gain their stride scoring just over a minute later when junior Claire O'Leary scored off of a feed from junior Jenna Choquette.  O'Leary's goal ignited a seven goal unanswered scoring run by the Broncos who would eventually lead 9-4 at half.  In usual Cal Poly form, the Mustangs mounted a second half comeback by capitalizing off of Bronco mistakes in the midfield.  With Saturday's win over Cal Poly, Santa Clara clinched the WWLL North Championship and will head to Santa Barbara this coming weekend as the #2 seed in the overall WWLL Playoffs.

Santa Clara will play San Diego State at 12:00pm in the WWLL Quarterfinals.  The winner will play again at 4:00 and face the winner of Cal Poly versus Pepperdine.
