In addition, Dr. Ben Drati, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, for the Santa Barbara Unified School District has started junior high school lacrosse at the four local public junior high schools. Drati recognized early the need for feeder programs at the younger ages and Goleta Valley, La Colina, La Cumbre and Santa Barbara junior high schools will have spring lacrosse teams starting in 2015. In a related move the Santa Barbara Lacrosse Association is going to offer after school programs twice a week in the spring at as many local elementary schools as possible. Restrictions include availability of coaches and field space but SBCC and UCSB women's lacrosse players are going to help out.
