2014 Rule Book

Rule changes for the 2014 season:

Play:

- Only 3 players will be in/around the circle during the draw (including the girl taking the draw).  This means 4 attackers and 4 defenders behind the opposing restraining lines.  This allows for a cleaner & safer draw.

-If a player makes contact with another player using a horizontal stick it will be an automatic whistle and major foul.

-All major fouls against a goalscorer will be penalized (not just a card).  This will result in a free position at the draw.

-Goal circle fouls on an attacker results in the goalie getting posession of the ball and the attacker going 4m behind the goal.

Cards:

- The penalty for a red card will be 4 minutes.

Rule changes for 2013 Season:

Communication: Any coach or player can ask umpire for a timeout after a goal or during time when their team has clear possession of the ball.

Time: The clock will stop during timeouts when the clock is on running time.

Boundaries: When the ball goes out of bounds, the player with possession will stand ONLY 2m inside the boundary line.

Sticks: Pockets may not be attached by looping over the top of the bottom rail or in decorative holes (thus making the pocket larger).

Play:

- If defense commits a goal circle foul, the offensive team will be awarded an 8m free position on the goal line extended.  The defender who committed the foul will be placed 4m behind her.

Cards:

- An umpire can WARN a player with a yellow card.

Rule changes for 2012 Season:

Communication: Only the head coach or captain(s) will communicate with the umpires during play.

Time: The clock will now run in the last 2 minutes of each half if there is a 10-goal differential.

Timeouts: Each team will have two timeouts during regulation time; one timeout during overtime.

Draw: On the draw, the ball must be placed in the upper third of each head at its widest point.

Substitutions: All substitutions must be made through the substitution area. Substitutions may not take place after the draw is set.

Play:

- Players may not reach into or cradle in the sphere.

- A player may not check toward the body.

- If play must be stopped due to player injury or suspected injury and/or medical personnel or coach comes onto the field to attend to a player, that player(s) must leave the field.

Offside:

- Will be determined by the number of players for each team who are behind the restraining line (always keeping 4 back).

- Offside free position shall be at the spot of the ball unless specifically directed by the rules.

- If attack fouls, the closest defender to the spot of the ball will be awarded a free position at that spot (no closer than 8m to the goal circle). The attack player with the ball will go 4m behind. The attacker closest to the restraining line will move back onside.

Cards:

- Player receiving yellow or red card will serve 2-minute penalty and the team will play short below each restraining line.

- Any player or coach receiving two yellow cards will be suspended from the rest of the game. They may both participate in the next game.

- Any player or coach receiving a red card will be suspended from the rest of the game and shall be prohibited from participating in the team's next game.
