Farrell, Rastivo Named to NEC All-Tournament Team

PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's junior long stick midfielder Will Farrell and freshman attackman Michael Rastivo have been named to the 2014 Northeast Conference All-Tournament Team, as voted by coaches.

Farrell, a 2014 NEC All-Conference First Team selection, caused a game-high four turnovers and scooped up three ground balls in Saint Joseph's 10-9 double-overtime loss to Hobart in the semi-finals on Thursday afternoon. Rastivo, a 2014 NEC All-Rookie Team honoree, scored a career-high five goals on 11 shots on Thursday.

Saint Joseph's concludes the regular season 11-4 overall and boasted an undefeated 6-0 league record in its inaugural season in the Northeast Conference.

NEC Honors:

 Saint Joseph’s head coach Taylor Wray was named the NEC Coach of the Year and redshirt junior attackman Ryan McGee was selected the NEC Offensive Player of the Year as the top-seeded and Northeast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Tournament host Saint Joseph’s claimed two of the five major awards and placed 11 student-athletes on the NEC All-Conference teams, it was revealed on Wednesday evening at the NEC Men’s Lacrosse pre-tournament banquet in Philadelphia.

McGee is joined on the 2014 NEC All-Conference First Team by junior long stick midfielder Will Farrell and sophomore defenseman John Winchell. Senior faceoff specialist Will Abbott, junior defenseman Kevin Barrow, junior midfielder Mike Dougherty, freshman goalkeeper T.J. Jones, and senior midfielder Johnny Simanski have been selected to the All-Conference Second Team while the freshman group of Jones, midfielder Anthony Joaquim, and attackmen Michael Rastivo and Ray Vandegrift have earned All-Rookie Team honors.

A 2014 USILA Scholar All-American, Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area selection, and NEC Spring Academic Honor Roll honoree, Saint Joseph’s men’s lacrosse redshirt junior attackman Ryan McGee has been selected the Northeast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Spring Scholar-Athlete award winner, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Saint Joseph's redshirt junior attackman Ryan McGee has been selected to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association 2014 Scholar All-America Team. A scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a sen...ior year academic standing and a cumulative GPA of 3.0. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North-South team, or an outstanding league or conference player. He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field.

 

 Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse midfielder Johnny Simanski has been selected to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I/II South Team roster and will represent SJU at the 73rd USILA/LaxWorld North-South All-Star Game to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 26. A Maryland native, Simanski will return to his home state as the game will be played at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Johnny Simanski scored the South's go-ahead goal in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Division I/II North-South All-Star Game!
