Tennessee vs. George WashingtonApr. 6, 2013 Tennessee - 11: George Washington - 7 The Tennessee Volunteers finished their trip to Lexington, KY with another divisional matchup against the George Washington University Colonials. This is GWU first season in the Southeastern Lacrosse Conference, Northwest division. Tennessee gave the Colonials a strong welcoming present with a win, their second divisional win. UT's divisional record is now 1-2, GWU being their first win the the division. Junior Matt Herner (Louisville, KY; Trinity) recorded his second hat trick of the season to lead the UT offensive threat. Freshman Griffin Young (Nashville, TN; Father Ryan) was close behind with two goals and six other Vols netted goals to round out the Vol's scoring. Senior David Catterton got the start in cage for the Vols. He had a great comeback game after a lackluster showing against the UK Wildcats. He made 11 saves and posted a .611 save percentage to hold off the Colonial offense. This game was a well-rounded day for UT in the groundball collumn. Taylor Szalay (Memphis, TN; Houston HS) led the team, scooping up seven gb's, and going 10-19 at the faceoff X. Defenseive midfielder Sam Kachline (Signal Mountain, TN; McCallie) was next with four groundballs, while eight other Vols scooped up two or three gb's. Next weekend, the Volunteers will make the trip up to Morgantown, WV for their second-to-last divisional matchup against the WVU Mountaineers.
