Volunteer Invitational day 2Mar. 9, 2013 Tennessee - 16: Iowa State - 6 For the day two matchup of the Volunteer Invitational, UT took on the Iowa State Cyclones. At this point in the Vol's season, this game has been their best in terms of offensive production. Six different Vols found the back of the net. Barry Hillyer (Memphis, TN; MUS) and Kevin O'Neil (Herndon, VA; Chantilly) led the team in scoring with a double hat trick and hat trick plus one, respectively. Even LSM Blake Hennessey (Memphis, TN; MUS) was able to cash in on a Cyclone defense that could not handle the UT firepower. Sophomore netminder Chris Melson (Memphis, TN; Loyola College Prep) was able to stifle the Cyclone's scoring attempts. He made eight saves on the day. Defender David Ruben (Memphis, TN; MUS) and defensive midfielder Sam Kachline (Signal Mountain, TN; McCallie) had five groundballs. Although attackman Paul Dingee (Brewster, NY; Brewster HS) led the team with six gb's. For the final day of competition at the Volunteer invitational, the Vols will take on the Western Michigan Broncos.
