Tennessee - 10: Alabama - 11 The Tennessee Volunteers traveled down into Crimson Tide country for a matchup against one of their big SEC rivals in the Crimson Tide of Alabama. The game was a double-overtime thriller but the Tide would edge the Vols late in the second OT.

Alabama came out early against the Vols with the first goal of the game. The Volunteers would soon answer as both teams would go goal for goal for much of the first half. The Vols were able to get an early tie at 2-2 but would not be able to gain a lead over the Tide.

Senior attacker Barry Hillyer (Memphis, TN: Jacksonville U.) tallied the most points for the Vols (3 goals, 3 assists) and junior midfielder Matt Herner (Louisville, KY: Trinity) would also net a hat trick (3 goals). Two Vols also scooped up 7 groundballs. Sophomores, defender Stephan Hatfield (Oak Ridge, TN: Oak Ridge HS) and longstick midfielder Blake Hennessy (Memphis, TN: MUS).

The Crimson Tide outshot the Volunteers (42-23) for most of the game. Though senior keeper David Catterton was again up for the challenge of stopping the Tide's offense. He made 14 saves to keep the Volunteers in the game well into two overtimes.

For their second matchup for the weekend, the Volunteers will face another SELC opponent in the Ole Miss Rebels.
