Allstate Sugar Bowl Lacrosse Classic 2/16

 Tennessee  12: Texas A&M 9 – The second match in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Lacrosse Classic pitted the Volunteers against an Unranked Texas A&M squad in Pan American Stadium.

 Tennessee came out with a strong first half notching six goals. Senior Barry Hillyer (Memphis, TN; Jacksonville U.) put in an outstanding performance with five goals that earned him the game MVP award. Six other Vols would all net a goal in a strong offensive show for the team.

 Senior and junior goalies David Catterton (Brentwood, TN; Brentwood HS) and Chris Melson (Memphis, TN; Loyola College Prep) respectively, were able to stifle the Aggies offensive chances. Catterton recorded five saves, while Melson had four. Two  Vols recorded six groundballs,  senior defender David Ruben (Memphis, TN; MUS) and senior defensive midfielder Sam Kachline (Chattanooga, TN; McCallie).

 Tennessee closed out their participation in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Lacrosse Classic with a record of 1-1 with a win on Saturday morning. Their overall record now stands at 1-1. The Vol’s next game will be February 22nd against the No. 11 ranked Virginia Tech Hokies under the lights at the Tennessee Intramural field. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. for the Volunteers first conference game of the season.
