Vols Announce 2013 Team CaptainsFeb. 12, 2013 Tennessee Lacrosse has announced its three captains for this year. All three men have shown great leadership in the program over their four years with the team. “The team voted on these individuals and I could not agree more with their selection for captains,” said head coach Matt Synowiez, “They are the right guys to lead this team demonstrating the love for the game and representing the University of Tennessee in the right way.” Sam Kachline, David Ruben, and David Catterton all played high school lacrosse in Tennessee with Sam Kachline and David Ruben facing each other in the 2009 State Championship. Sam Kachline (Chattanooga, TN – McCallie School) started his career at McCallie as an attackman but switched to midfield his junior season. He has started for the Vols for the past three seasons at D-middie with last year being cut short due to an ACL tear. Back healthier than ever, Sam looks to lead Tennessee deep into the SELC playoffs for his final season. Administratively, Sam has been an asset to the club as well. He served as an officer his sophomore and junior years and is this year’s Team President. David Ruben (Memphis, TN – MUS) started playing lacrosse as a freshman in high school. He originally played middie, but switched to defense before his sophomore season. He has been an anchor in the Vols defense since he joined in 2009. With several new additions around him in this year’s line-up, David has helped coach the new comers to bring them up to speed. David Catterton (Nashville, TN -- Brentwood High School) started his lacrosse career in sixth grade as an attackmen, but moved to goalie his freshman year at Brentwood High School. Catterton is a fifth year senior looking to end his college career between the pipes at Tennessee on a high note after redshirting last year. Catterton split starting duties with former Tennessee keeper Jordan Blazer since their arrival on campus in 2008, but looks forward to leading the defense on a full-time basis for the 2013 season. Directing the new faces on defense will be his main priority this year as he looks to lead the team to another appearance in the SELC tournament. -Go Vols
