The University of Tennessee Lacrosse team had it's first fall scrimmage against Sewanee University (NCAA Div III) on Saturday October 2nd at Sewanee.  The Volunteers brought 27 of the 43 man fall roster to Sewanee for the competition as the other members of the team traveled to LSU for the football game against the Tigers.  Many of the guys that were able to travel were new comers to the program and although Sewanee was victorious on the day the Tennessee coaching staff was pleased with the overall effort from the Volunteers.  "The best part of the fall is seeing new players we had been recruiting for almost two years actually be on the field for us.  Obviously with such an early fall competition neither team was playing at Spring season form, but it does show you who has a natural understanding of the game and those that need a little more coaching staff attention throughout the fall." said Tennessee Head Coach Matt Synowiez.

The Volunteers would like to thank Sewanee Head Lacrosse Coach Marty Waters and the Sewanee program for hosting us.  The Sewanee program is continuing to develop nicely in it's third year of NCAA existence and we look forward to hosting Sewanee next Spring for our annual season opener against Sewanee and Mars Hill (NCAA Div II) on January 29th on the Intramural Turf at UT.

Next up for the Volunteers is a fall scrimmage against local MCLA Div II opponent Tennessee Wesleyan College at 12:15pm on the Intramural Turf field at UT on Saturday October 16th.
