Hokies hold on to beat Tennessee in OT 9-8Box Score

Very hard fought game that concluded with Virginia Tech winning the opening faceoff of overtime and finishing to win the game 9-8. The first half was a defensive battle that concluded with a 3-1 VT lead. Virginia Tech stretched that lead in the 3rd quarter to 7-4 before the Volunteers rallied in the 4th to tie the game at 8-8 with 22 seconds remaining in the game. The Volunteers were led by sophomore Goalie Jordan Blazer who had 27 saves on the day and the entire defensive unit of close and short stick defenders played tough all game. Offensively the Vols were led by freshman midfielder Tray Harrell who had 2 G and 1 A on the day followed by sophomore midfielder Woody Kidd with 2 G. Tough defeat for the Volunteers but congratulations to Coach Nachlas and VT for a great game.

VT takes on the Florida State Seminoles tomorrow afternoon on the Intramural Turf field at Tennessee at 2pm Saturday afternoon followed by Tennessee vs Florida State Sunday at 12:30pm.
