Tennessee comes from behind to defeat Vanderbilt in divisional matchupMar. 28, 2009 The game with Vanderbilt started off with our offense moving the ball and themselves very well. This game started off with the offense doing everything they're supposed to do accept finishing. We had 5 great offensive looks that ended in pipes being hit and 1 empty goal missed cage from 9 yards by our best offensive finisher. This combined with a sluggish defense gave Vanderbilt a 7-4 halftime lead. We accentuated at halftime that the team looked good, and all we needed to do was get a few stops on defense and get the back back to the offense so it culd run like it had been. The offense was ready to settle down and finish the shot opportunities. The team did just that. We got three straight defensive stops and transitioned down and scored three straight goals. The score was tied at 7-7 about 4 minutes into the 3rd quarter. Tennessee kept the pressure on and freshman goalie Jordan Blazer had a strong second half and the Volunteers were victorious with an 11-9 win with young Jordan contributing 25 saves! Point leaders on the day were Chris White (Father Ryan / Nashville, TN) with 4 A and 1 G, Jack Cleary (Centenial / Nashville, TN) with 3 G and Woody Kidd (Burke, VA) with 3 G. Ground ball leader on the day was Matt Cooper (Columbus, OH) with 4 GB's.
