University of Tenn kicks off season against Div II Mars Hill
Jan. 31, 2009 The University of Tennessee Men's Lacrosse team had its first exhibition of the season against visiting NCAA Division II Mars Hill College. The club would like to give a special thank you to Head Coach Sean Woods and the entire Mars Hill College lacrosse team for a great competitive kick-off to the 2009 season. Sean has a great group of players and we wish them the best as they defend their Deep South Conference Champion title in 2009.
The final score was 11-5 in Mars Hill's favor and both teams were able to work deeply into their benches. The game was close at half time but Mars Hill turned up the riding intensity in the 3rd quarter and the young UT team felt the pressure. UT settled back down in the 4th quarter and finished the game on a better note.
The University of Tennessee team kicks off its official season this Friday night at 8PM against conference opponent Kentucky and again on Sunday against Wake Forest at noon. Both games are on the intramural field at the University of Tennessee. We will also be hosting a game on Saturday between Kentucky and Wake Forest at noon (also at the IM field) so if you are within driving distance of Knoxville it will be a great weekend to catch some early season lacrosse action.
