Late fall action against Vandy and Kentucky

Bookmark and Share Printer Friendly Nov. 17, 2008

The Tennessee Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Nashville this weekend to take on Vandy and Kentucky in some late Fall Ball action.  In the first game against Kentucky, UT started out hot and held a 2 goal lead over Kentucky for the majority of the game. Towards the end however Tennessee lost some crucial faceoffs and allowed the Wildcats to make a run and tie the game at 7 before time ran out. In the second game Tennessee faced off against Vanderbilt. The Vols jumped out to a early 2-1 lead and showed some early offensive prowess. However, as the game went on UT could not put anything together and allowed the Commodores to take the lead and run away with the game. The final score was 11-3. It was the first real SELC action for most of the players and it proved to everyone on the team that this is still alot of work to be done before the opener against Mars Hill. There is alot of potential on the team and there are alot of young guys that needed the experience of playing a real SELC game. This was the last week of work for the Vols as the students head towards finals. The Vols will play a preseason game against Mars Hill on January 31 and open the 2009 season at home against The Kentucky Wildcats on February 6th.
