Fifth Annual Santa Barbara Fall Brawl Starts Fast
Oct. 20, 2012 Santa Barbara, CA - The Fifth Annual Santa Barbara Fall Brawl Sponsored by Brine started with two High School Elite Division girl's lacrosse games and two College Competitive Division games. With an exciting rally in the high school elite opener the East Bay Lax Rats from Northern California came back to tie Laxers Lacrosse of Orange County 11-11 in the closing moments of the game. The contest was the first of four straight games on the UCSB Lacrosse Field (aka The Pit). In the second game the Pacific Falcons of San Diego won easily 12-1 over BearLax of Northern California. College play opened with UNLV getting the better of Sonoma State in a 12-3 win. The nightcap was Sonoma playing again right away to beat the UCSB Novice Team 9-5. The Gauchos were down 1-5 at halftime before tying the Seawolvers 4-4 in the second half.
Play in the Santa Barbara Fall Brawl continues on Sunday with the bulk of the games. Forty-eight games across six divisons will be played on the Pit and on UCSB Storke Field starting at 9:00am on Saturday.
In the inaugural men's lacrosse division SBCC hopes to come out on top of Cal Lutheran, Cal State Channel Islands, Occidental, Total Lacrosse Club and the Ventura Bombers. The men's division has a pool play and championship format. The girls and womens division are set schedule match-ups featuring teams in the Super Division for college and post-collegiate women, the Competitive Division for college teams, the High School Club Elite Girls Division, the High School Club Risers Division and the Middle School Girls Division.
