Five Gauchos Make U.S. Lacrosse All-AmericanMay. 4, 2011 Scottsdale, AZ - U.S. Lacrosse named it's WCLA All-Americans at an awards ceremony at the McDowell Mountain Marriott this afternoon. The ceremony was held in advance of the opening round of the evening national championship tournament games being played at the Scottsdale Sports Complex. Five UCSB women's lacrosse players made USL Women's Collegiate Lacrosse Association All-American.
Senior Ashley Antoon-Algieri (San Ramon, CA) made her third All-American team, having been named First Team her sophomore and junior years. First time All-Americans were juniors Maegan Cruse (San Diego, CA) & Jeni Centner (Tustin, CA) and sophomores Katie Mitchell (Lafayette, CA) & Emilia Norlin (Mill Valley, CA). The five Gauchos were also named to Western Women's Lacrosse League All-League teams in the WWLL awards ceremony on April 18th. Players from WWLL teams snared 16 of the 36 All-American spots showing the strength and organization of the first collegiate-club women's lacrosse league in the United States, founded in 1992 with 8 inaugural members and now grown to 34 teams playing in three divisions of competition.
