UCSB Bests Alumni 15-11Box Score
Nov. 13, 2010  Santa Barbara, CA - The annual UCSB lacrosse alumni weekend for both the men's and women's programs featured three games on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The first game of the day was the Hall of Fame Game for men's lacrosse alumni in classes of 1971 - 2000. The result was an 8-7 win for the odd numbered grad year players. The second game featured the younger alumni versus the UCSB men's lacrosse team. After a 3-1 halftime lead the current UCSB team pulled away from the alumni and won 8-3.
The game everyone was waiting for, though, was the women's lacrosse alumni game. UCSB won 15-11 and was in control early. The Gauchos used an early 3-0 lead to fashion an 8-3 halftime lead. The second half was much closer with the alumni winning it 8-7 as UCSB players moved around and played out of position.
The alumni also benefited from the play of UCSB assistant coaches Jillian Boyd (Virginia Wesleyan  '08) and Lindsay Feig (Redlands '07). Boyd played midfield for the alumni and Feig played in goal. UCSB Rugby convert Sophie McCarthy played a full 30 minutes in goal for the first time in her life during the second half for UCSB. McCarthy is joining the women's lacrosse team after too many broken noses suffered in rugby kept her from being cleared to play again this year.
The annual UCSB Lacrosse Alumni Weekend is the second full weekend in November every year. The next one is November 11 - 13, 2011.
