UCSB Women's Lacrosse Adds Ten PlayersJul. 27, 2010 Santa Barbara, CA - The UCSB women's lacrosse incoming class of ten new players includes two transfers and eight high school students. Larissa Durkin (Oakland, CA) and Jordan Venetis (Thousand Oaks, CA) are transferring from SBCC to UCSB. Venetis arrives at UCSB by way of SBCC and before that Virginia Wesleyan. Durkin plays in the midfield and Venetis plays attack. Eight recent high school graduates round out the recruiting class.
"This is a great group to add to our program," says UCSB head coach Paul Ramsey. "We picked up some speed in the midfield and added a few proven scorers." "We would have liked to get a goalie and a few defenders but players at both those positions are in the group enrolling at SBCC this fall to transfer to UCSB down the road." The Gauchos usually have a number of players walk-on during Fall Ball and Ramsey expects that will happen again this year. "We continue to aim for having six beginners join us every year to play on our B Team and experience this great game," added Ramsey. "It's part of our development efforts."
