Lindenwood Edges UCSB for #2 Spot in National Poll

File PhotoBaltimore, MD - UCSB dropped from 2nd to 3rd in the WDIA National top 25 Poll despite not playing last week. Lindenwood edged UCSB 304 points to 302 points in the voting. The Lions won four games during a stretch when the Gauchos were tied up with winter quarter final exams and then away during the ensuing spring break.

The Lions played in the A-Town Throwdown in Atlanta and beat 8th ranked Colorado State 10-4, 12th ranked Georgia 16-5, 9th ranked Florida 14-4 and 25th ranked Minnesota 15-3. Lindenwood was the only team to finish the A-Town Throwdown undefeated. Lindenwood improved to 13-1 with the four wins. The Gauchos, 15-14 winners over Lindenwood on February 12th, are 10-1 overall. UCSB last played when they beat 7th ranked UCLA 14-5 on March 12th, before final exams.

Third ranked UCSB travels to 4th ranked Cal Poly SLO this Saturday for a WWLL Central Division 1 match. The Mustangs are 9-2 overall and are tied at first place in the Central Division with UCSB at 2-0. Cal Poly SLO is coming off a 15-11 win at 10th ranked Colorado on March 21st and a 19-3 win at unranked Pepperdine on March 27th.
