Platinum Hands Three-Peats
Nov. 15, 2008  Santa Barbara, CA - Platinum Hands successfully defended their 3 v. 3 Tournament championships from 2006 and 2007 to get a three-peat. The UCSB athlete based team played as Silver Hands in 2006 and Gold Hands in 2007. The Hands defeated surprise finalist Team OC 5-2 in the final this year to get fiirst place again after suffering a 5-4 pool play loss at the hands of the Orange County upstarts earlier in the day. Platinum Hands crawled their way back through the rest of pool play and the quarterfinal brackets for the rematch.
The third place game featured another young group challenging the field of mostly college players. La Canada High School finished second in their pool and then beat OXY Orange 2-0 to advance to the semifinals to face Team OC. The younger La Canada players kept it close at first but Team OC pulled away and won 5-3 to get to the championship game.
Games were played all the way down to 9th place. Third place went to Determined, another team of UCSB players, with their 4-2 win over La Canada.
