UCSB Holds Off Alumni 11-6
Nov. 8, 2008 Santa Barbara, CA - Fun was had by all during the UCSB Lacrosse Alumni Weekend. Activities started with men's and women's lacrosse alumni getting together at Joe's Cafe on Friday night. It continued with friends getting breakfast together on Saturday morning. Then Saturday afternoon a lacrosse game was played. The UCSB team won 11-6 against the alumni on the Pit. The game was close with a 6-3 halftime score that favored the current team. The second half was a little bit closer as the alumni closed the gap on the younger group with a 5-3 half to provide the final score. Saturday night saw the official close of the weekend with a farewell get-together at Tonic Nightclub. Support for the program was also shown in a number of ways. $1,125 was raised with support from the alumni who came to the game. Catherine Green ('89) earned the distinction of being the first alum from the 80's to come back for this game in a long time. Perhaps more women's lacrosse alumni from past generations will participate in the future and give reason to start a separate game for everyone who played in 1999 or before. Leah Fleischmann ('05) and Katie Wolfson ('06) were the unofficial long distance award winners. Leah flew in from Massachusetts and Katie flew in from Maryland to make it for the weekend. The next UCSB Lacrosse Alumni Weekend will be November 6 - 8, 2009, held during it's traditional date on the second weekend in November.
