UCSB 'A' Team Gets Top Seed in WWLL ChampionshipsApr. 15, 2008 Tempe, CA - The Western Women's Lacrosse League office at ASU in Tempe, Arizona released the seedings for the upcoming WWLL Championships at Chico State April 19 - 20. The UCSB 'A' Team received the top seed in the 8 team First Division championship tournament. The UCSB 'B' Team received the #2 seed in the 4 team Second Division championship tournament. First Division Second Division The UCSB 'A' Team faces 23rd ranked UC Davis at 9:00am in the quarterfinals on Saturday. This is the WDIA team at UC Davis and not the NCAA Division I team. The Aggies are 6-7 overall. It is the first meeting between the two teams this season. Should UCSB come out on top in that game the Gauchos will advance to a 1:00pm semifinal game where they will face the winner of the UCLA vs. San Diego State game. The Gauchos were successful against both teams during the regular season. The Bruins fell 17-12 to UCSB on March 1st and the Aztecs were on the wrong end of an 18-4 UCSB outburst on March 15th. UCLA and San Diego State just played their regular season game against each other last weekend. The Bruins made quick work of the Aztecs on the road in San Diego on April 12th and won 18-9. The UCSB 'B' Team gets a rematch with Sonoma State in their semifinals at 1:00pm on Saturday. In the first meeting between the two teams the Gauchos came out on top in an early season game at the Santa Barbara Shootout in a 9-1 win on February 16th. A much improved Sonoma State team stunned the UCSB 'B' Team on March 9th and eked out a 9-8 win over the Gauchos. Overall season performance gave the Gauchos the #2 seed.
