Baltimore, MD - UCSB is third in the country before the season starts according to Lacrosse
Magazine, a publication of U.S. Lacrosse, the National Governing Body
for the sport. The magazine released it's rankings for eleven college
& university divisions of men's and women's lacrosse across NCAA
Division I, II, III, National Junior College and
Intercollegiate Associates (WDIA), the division that includes UCSB Women's Lacrosse.
The Lacrosse Magazine ranking is compiled with staff votes and is a different rating than the WDIA Coaches Poll, which hasn't been released.
The
Gauchos finished the 2007 season ranked third in the final regular
season WDIA poll. UCSB started ranked second, dropped as low as seventh
partway through the season (March 14th poll) while battling
injuries and then rallied as post-season approached to enter the WDIA
National Tournament ranked third. UCSB returns nine starters from their
18-7 season in 2007. The Gauchos 2008 schedule includes twelve teams ranked in
the Lacrosse Magazine Top 20. The complete Lacrosse Magazine On-Line Article is available on the U.S. Lacrosse website.
