UCSB WLAX at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu
Waikiki, HI - The Gauchos visited the North Shore of Oahu in the morning and then opened play at the Hawaii Lacrosse Tournament with two wins in back to back games. UCSB spent the morning at Waimea Bay, ate lunch at Ted's Bakery & Deli on the King Kamamea Highway, made a brief stop at Sunset Beach and completed the circle island bus tour with a trip around the leeward side of Oahu. A quick change in the bathrooms at Kapiolani Park at the foot of Diamondhead and the Gauchos were on the field warming up for their game with Hokkaido University.

UCSB made the mental transition from cliff jumping at Waiema in the morning to playing lacrosse in the afternoon. The all morning tour of the more natural side of Oahua didn't slow down the Gauchos during play. Half-time saw UCSB up 9-0 on Hokkaido and that led to all 24 players who made the trip seeing the field for a 13-2 final score. UCSB then faced a much stronger opponent with a solid goal keeper in their second game of the day. A fresh Tokai University team was up next for UCSB with about 5 minutes rest between games. The scoreboard showed zeros for the first ten minutes but it was the Gauchos who found the net first on their way to a 4-1 half-time lead. Persevering through the final period of play for the long day UCSB steadily outscored Tokai by the same margin while playing everyone to make it an 8-2 final score.

The Gauchos open up their Saturday four game marathon with a 9am game vs. Victoria Tsunami Lacrosse Club of Vancouver, Canada. Games at 11am, 12 Noon and 2pm follow.
