Winston-Salem, NC - The Gauchos had a 3-2 halftime lead in the third mud bowl game in a row at BB&T Park on the consolation side of the WCLA National Tournament but 11th ranked Cal Poly SLO started the second half with a four goal run over a four minute span to get the win. It looked to be a defensive battle at both ends of the field at the start of the second half but UCSB stops did not transition into successful clearing into the offensive end. Eventually the Mustangs used the momentum of the extra possessions and went on their four goal run. Cal Poly scored the first of those goals at 9:17 into the second half and the fourth one at 13:23. It gave them a 6-3 lead. Both teams traded goals the rest of the way, including an open net goal by the Mustangs with 37 seconds remaining, for the final 8-5 score.

Senior Morgan Ryan (Salt Lake City, UT) played her final game in goal for UCSB and had eight saves. Five Gauchos scored a goal each and freshman Sarah Griffin (Garden City, NY) had two assists. Senior Kelsey Trepa (San Marcos, CA) contributed an assist as well.  The ground ball leader was senior Cailan Howey (Charlotte, NC) with four and senior Nicole Rockwell (San Jose, CA) snared 3 draw controls.

UCSB finishes the season 12-9 and improved over their 10-9 finish in 2015. Cal Poly finishes 13-6.
