UCSB Inches Up to 8th In National Poll

UCSb After UCLABaltimore, MD - The Gauchos are in the eighth spot in the U.S. Lacrosse WCLA National Poll released today. Voters saw fit to move UCSB up from ninth after their 14-9 win over unranked University of San Diego. The inch up came at the expense of formerly fifth ranked Santa Clara University. The Broncos dropped all the way to tenth following a 7-9 loss to the unranked club from UC Berkeley. Subsequently the Bears went from unranked to 18th ranked.

UCSB, 7-3 over-all, is no longer the under-dog for their much anticipated match-up at Santa Clara on April 3rd. It's a role reversal the young Gauchos in the program haven't experienced. That is, to say, two top ten teams playing and UCSB the favorite hasn't been an occurrence for more than two years.

"We're not going to change anything in that regards," says UCSB head coach Paul Ramsey.  "It's still about keeping it simple and getting all the little things done while controlling what we can control."

The Gauchos are currently in the middle of final exams so there's some time before they will need to mentally reset into the role of favorites on the field.
