Gauchos Crack Top Ten In WCLA National PollMar. 9, 2016 Baltimore, MD - UCSB is ranked ninth in the country in the most recent US Lacrosse WCLA Division One poll, released today. The Gauchos were ranked 13th heading into their game with second ranked UCLA this past Saturday. UCSB upset the Bruins 16-14 after leading by as much as 16-11 with just over three minutes remaining in the game. We showed much improvement in the UCLA game and it came from hustle, ground balls and the most camaraderie we've had in a long time," said UCSB Head Coach Paul Ramsey after seeing the poll. "It is important for us to continue to work hard, stay humble and be selfless teammates if we want to climb even higher," added Ramsey. "Ninth is really nice for improvement but we can continue to climb." UCSB, 6-3 overall, hosts unranked University of San Diego on Friday in a 4:00pm game on the UCSB Recreation Center turf. The Toreros are unranked now but were ranked 20th in the February 23rd poll. They've won five straight games since February 13th but somehow lost their ranking. USD is 6-3 overall and 2-0 in WWLL South, currently in first place in that division. "We are in the driver seat and we control our own destiny when we play like we did against UCLA," Ramsey concluded. "Now we need to play like that again." Complete Poll
