Gauchos Three Teams Go 6-3 At SB Fall Brawl
Nov. 22, 2014
Santa Barbara, CA - The three sides UCSB entered into their SB Fall Brawl Tournament combined for a 6-3 record among all three teams. The UCSB Blue, UCSB Gold and UCSB White teams played across both the Super and Competitive divisions at the Seventh Annual Santa Barbara Fall Brawl. Games were played at the UCSB Recreation Center sports complex turf. UCSB Blue started slow against a quick Lady Cougs (NCAA DIII Claremont Colleges fall pick up team) and were in a 2-7 hole at halftime before playing a more respectable 3-4 second half for a final score of 11-5 in favor of the Cougs. The Gauchos rebounded with a 11-6 win over Tricheck Lacrosse Club and followed up with a 12-6 win over Cal State San Marcos. The Lady Cougs had narrowly defeated San Marcos 8-7 so the 6 goal win by UCSB over San Marcos showed more of what the Gauchos have in them.
The UCSB Gold team was 3-0 on the day after a 10-4 win over University of Northern Colorado, a 7-1 win over UNLV and a 6-2 win over Sonoma State. All three opponents were WCLA Division Two teams. UCSB White was a group of mostly novices and some second year players. The White side was 1-2 but respectable in a 7-2 loss to UC Irvine, an 11-0 win over Cal State Northridge and a 8-4 loss to Concordia. All three are also WCLA Division Two programs.
The Gauchos non-traditional season has concluded and UCSB next plays when the A Team travels to their season opener at USC and the B Team travels to Cal State Northridge for their season opener on January 24th.
