UCSB vs. SDSUSanta Barbara, CA - Seventh ranked UCSB outshot the club from San Diego State but couldn't climb all the way out of a six goal hole and lost 17-13 at UCSB Harder Stadium. The Gauchos were scoreless on their first 12 shots at the start of the game while the 15th ranked Aztecs converted on their opportunities to go up 6-0 in the first seven minutes. After the Aztecs went up 6-0 sophomore Alena Riggs (Laguna Niguel, CA) started UCSB off on a three goal run with an unassisted goal. Then, though, the Aztecs won the next draw control and scored to lead 7-3 at halftime. The Gauchos pulled to within 3 goals two separate times in the second half. They were down 5-8 with 28 minutes remaining and it looked like they might get something going with plenty of time. The Aztecs then scored three straight to take a 6 goal lead. The Gauchos came back partway again and were down 7-10 with 20 minutes remaining. Eight minutes later SDSU had their biggest lead of the game, up 16-8. Again the Gauchos rallied to score 5 of the next 6 goals but it was too much of a hole and the Aztecs held on to win by four.

Evans led all scorers with 6 goals but nine SDSU players got in on the scoring for their team. Two Aztecs scored 3 goals, three Aztecs scored 2 goals and 5 other Aztecs scored 1 goal each.
