UCSB Alumni Emilia Norlin Playing For Sweden In The World CupJul. 15, 2013
Oshawa, Canada - Former UCSB defender Emilia Norlin (Class of 2013) is playing for Sweden in the FIL Women's Lacrosse World Cup in Oshawa, Canada. Norlin, who has dual citizenship in both Sweden and the United States, earned a spot on the Swedish National Team to become the first UCSB lacrosse player on a national team. Sweden has qualified for the World Cup for the first time and is in Pool C with Austria, Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Nation), Hong Kong and Japan. "I understand from Swedish team administrator, Daniel Svanstrom, Sweden is pleased to have her too." USA is in Pool A and is the juggernaut of international competition, similarly as successful as the USA women's soccer team. Team USA has won six of the last eight women's lacrosse World Cup titles.
