Lynn Shapiro ('81) started the first women's lacrosse club during her junior year at UCSB in 1979-80 and kept it going for 198-81. The squad of some experienced players, but mostly beginners, played games all over California. Shapiro was herself a beginner who wanted to play so much she started the program.
