Bruins Win Big at CalMar. 2, 2013 A strong all-around team effort fueled the big win against UC Berkeley in Memorial Stadium this afternoon. The Bruins got out to a quick start as junior Courtney Randall found freshman Gretchen Guaglianone open for a 1-0 lead, just 1:15 into the game. Junior attacker Kate Armstrong scored the next two goals to push the lead to 3-0. After a Cal goal, UCLA rattled off 5 consecutive goals, three by Randall, to push the lead to 8-1. At the half, the Bruins led 11-4, led by 7 saves from junior goalkeeper Martine Ehrlich. After three more goals to open the second half, including two by freshman Sam Fletcher, the Bruins slowed down the pace, working to possess the ball and work down the clock. A strong defensive effort, led by junior Lindsey Perry. sophomore Molly Tracy, and freshman Kira Adsit, helped the Bruins pull out a 17-8 victory. Senior Margaret Nettleton, with 3 goals, 3 assists, and 7 draw controls has another strong performance on the afternoon.
