The Bruins came out hard and fast against the UCSD Tritons in their season opener at home on Saturday. After taking an 11-0 lead at the half, UCLA continued to dominate the midfield and kept most of the game's possession on their offensive end. Senior Antoinette Brou led the midfield pressure with 3 caused turnovers and 3 ground ball controls. The Bruins held the Tritons scoreless until the 49th minute of the game, managing an 18-0 lead with less than 12 minutes left on the clock. In addition, UCLA won 15 of 23 draw controls.

Senior Captain Morgan Oberstein (5 G, 1 A) and Sophomore Courtney Randall (3 G, 3 A) controlled the Bruins' offense with six points each. Seven other Bruins also got on the board, including WCLA All-American Allie Simpson (3 G, 2 A).

Michelle Rice and Isabel Angell, both senior captains, kept the Bruins composed and in control on defense with a combined 3 caused turnovers, 4 ground ball controls, and zero fouls. Meanwhile, goalie Devon Comito had a standout game, saving 10 of UCSD's 12 shots on goal to start her season save percentage at an all time high.

Sunday, the Bruins will face Occidental's NCAA Division III squad in their final early season scrimmage. Fifth ranked UCLA travels to San Luis Obispo to take on #8 Cal Poly in their next league match-up on Saturday, February 11.
