2007 Season Wrap-UpMay. 16, 2007 UCLA Women’s Lacrosse finished the 2007 campaign with a 15-7 record, earning 11th place at the US Lacrosse National tournament in Denver. The Bruins went into the championship with a good look at winning the title, but lost an 11-12 first-round heartbreaker to the University of Colorado, a team they had beaten three weeks earlier. The Bruins were down by four goals at halftime, but came out of the break on fire, scoring five goals in the first 11 minutes of the period. UCLA eventually took an 11-10 lead with five minutes remaining in the game, but Colorado capitalized on two late penalty calls, scoring the go-ahead goal with a little over one minute remaining. Despite falling short in their bid for a national championship, UCLA had an excellent year, picking up wins against several ranked opponents and making it to the National Tournament for the first time in four years. With an outstanding group of returning players, the team will look to build on this year’s success with a run at league and national championships in 2008. Congratulations to the five seniors whose stellar careers have helped to make UCLA a premier program: Heather Chin, Valerie Vinco, and tri-captains Anna Garahan, Taryn Muchnick and Kalyn Olson. Congratulations also go to Kalyn Olson for being selected as a WDIA First Team All American Midfielder!
